Listen to us on all platforms:

The celestial dome It is a meeting point between impressionism and modern jazz, with a touch of contemporary music and various influences from other styles. It is a potion that enchants us and transports us to a warm atmosphere of calm where we will connect with our deepest emotions.

We find aromas of different cultures, very diverse colors and abstract textures. We find naive minimalism, but also dense complexity; intimate and calm music, but at the same time very intense and poignant; composition written to the millimeter and free improvisation; joyful and simple melodies with dark and disturbing harmonies, incessant rhythms and organized chaos. It is an album of contrasts. We find songs, images, poems, stories and, even, a processional march.

It is worth highlighting the collaboration of the flautist Julia Gual, a great friend of the group who sadly left us in March 2023. We are lucky to be able to listen to her on Armenian Paper, a piece that he had performed with the duo in numerous concerts and which he recorded in the studio in December 2022.

It also appears in a surprise that you will find at the end of the album. It is an essay by Rays and waves, a composition for flute and piano that Víctor wrote for her for her 25th birthday. Unfortunately, the work could not be recorded in the studio, and for this reason the duo wanted to incorporate it into the repertoire and include on the album different fragments of the essays that are kept. It is a gift to be able to hear Júlia's flute, as alive and sparkling as she was. Her sound will last on this album and in our memory.

Finally, anyone familiar with Carla Bley's artistic universe will appreciate how her influence is felt in some of the pieces on this album, including the humor and irony that often accompany her music. Other great current references are also very present, such as Sylvie Courvoisier, Brad Mehldau, François Couturier or Anouar Brahem, as well as classics from the recent past, including Claude Debussy, Francis Poulenc and Olivier Messiaen.

The cover image of The sky vault it is a watercolor ofElena Segura which constitutes the visual theme of the album. The colors and textures aim to accompany the music with the sensations and emotions it wants to produce. The album is printed on recycled cardboard, with a texture similar to that of watercolor paper. Watercolor also intervenes in the interior design of the album, both on the back cover and inside, as well as on the CD itself and also in the booklet, which contains an explanatory text, photos of the group and the album credits. In addition, the album includes a gift: a postcard with the watercolor cover, also printed on recycled paper, to hang wherever it brings you the most joy.

The graphic design is the work of Mireia Banchs i Gual, a graphic and plastic artist who has designed the physical album, including the cover and the layout of the booklet, with a special treatment of the photographs. She is also the author of the cover illustrations for the singles that preceded the release of the album. These are, in order of publication, The sky vault, Armenian Paper and Islands and chamfers. The illustrations are hand-drawn with graphite and later digitally edited in color. Together with the watercolors, they constitute the graphic imagery of The sky vault.
